Search for solution to intermittent sound problem.

I have a sound problem with my iPad. The sound comes and goes, in fact it is doing it as I type this. I hear the keyboard clicks, then they suddenly stop. When I look at the volume slider in the open app tray, the entire slider disappears with the sound. I can turn the mute on and off, but the sound doesn't come back when on.

Does anyone have a solution?

Welcome to the forum mterry!
If you have not already done this, do what Apple recommend should be done periodically to clean up RAM and cache and make your iPad run more sweetly. Do this:

Simultaneously hold down the On/Off and Home buttons until the screen blacks out. Keep holding both until the white Apple logo appears and then let both go. Then wait until your wallpaper appears. Then start your iPad.
