Using safari, I found myself on a site that required a password. I don't know it and want to get out of the screen but whether I hit 'cancel' or 'apply', the request just keeps popping on the page before I can shrink and discard. I tried turning my iPad off and on but to no avail. Can't access any other screen on safari but have no problem shrinking safari to do something completely different on the 'pad. HELP, please!! Get me outta there!

Thanks, in advance,
HJ

You need to close Safari in the multitask bar, otherwise it will restart from its present state, as you've already found.

Four finger swipe up the screen to reveal the multitask bar.

Long press on any app in the list until a minus sign appears.

Touch the minus sign on each app to close it.

Four finger swipe down the screen to return to normal.

I appreciate the help.

I'm not sure about the 'four finger swipe up' to get to the multitask bar. Instead, I had to double click the button on the edge.

After long pressing an app, I closed everything that was open (hit the minus sign) but safari was not one of the choices! It's still looping and I can't see how to just shut it down. Nothing is left open.

Any other suggestion? What would happen if I removed google/safari as my choice of browser in the settings? Would that help in any way?

Thanks, again.

WAIT, IT WORKED! I closed and then reopened the task bar and this time safari was there. Hooray! I quickly minused it and voila! the loop disappeared since I was now able to discard that screen.

MANY THANKS
