I am new ipad WIFI (ONLY) user and would be glad to know if I could use a iphone to connect and replicate my ipad.

You mean have same content on iPhone as iPad. Yes you can except for iPad HD apps which may be available in iPhone format. Ios5 makes it easy to replicate

In addition to Colin's post, if you have an iPhone4 you can use the phone as a WiFi hotspot and use it to connect your iPad to the Internet.
