Problems with synching contacts

I just got my iPad2 and tried to synch my contacts from my Windows Outlook/ Dell laptop to the new iPad. When I went to click to select which groups I wanted to synch, only some were listed. I can't figure out how to get the remaining groups listed so that I can select them to synch them to the iPad. I don't want to synch all the contacts - only those in selected groups. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
