Lately, my iPad is constantly asking me for my password, usually to update my security settings. I have had my iPad for quite a few years and I sure as heck know my password, but it is ALWAYS rejected. Then, I have to do the password reset, but always using the exact same password it won’t accept. Why? I know my password, I never change it, but this whole thing, especially for as often as I’m asked, is getting old in a hurry. Help!

Been there, done that and have the tee shirt to prove it. It just will not recognize my password. I jump through the hoops of “changing” my password to the exact same one, and it accepts it until the next time.

Next time it happens, read the notification very carefully. For some of use who have been with Apple for long time it is possible to have more than one sign-in/password. iCloud, Apple ID, and iTunes all had separate sign-ins at one point, though they often had the same email and password.

I had a similar issue once, and it turned out the iPad was actually asking me to sign into and older iTunes account about updating an older app that had been purchased before the App Store existed.

Took me weeks to notice and deal with the right account.

I have always had one password. It doesn’t like what I put in, so I have to go to an email it sends and put in the same stupid password, and then it likes it. It gets old in a hurry.

All I can suggest at this point is to contact Apple Support. There is a free Apple Support app in the App Store. Unless you live near an Apple Store, then a trip there might be more fun.

Actually it's good practice to change passwords every so often, best not to keep the same ones for years.
