You might not remember how just a year ago; OnLive practically revolutionized the gaming world by bringing in the Cloud and streaming popular but massive games to the PCs, Macs and most recently the whole hosts of smartphones and tablets. Now, it’s about to do it all over again. Granted, we love our iPads, but what if we’re at work and some documents need urgent editing. That can become pretty annoying, not to mention frustrating.

But not anymore. Next week, good old OnLive is going to be bringing the OnLive Desktop app to the iTunes App Store. What will this little app going to provide for users? Well the whole and complete experience of Windows desktop experience, of course. That means full-featured Microsoft Applications and 2GB of free cloud storage for safe file access, even when we’re far away from home.

“iPad users will now be able to simply and securely view and edit cloud-hosted documents with full-featured Windows desktop applications like Microsoft Office, just as if they were using a local high-performance PC,†commented OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman. Naturally, don’t expect Windows 7 multi-touch navigation to give you the same experience as the mouse navigation. And it works better than expected actually thanks to gestures like Aero snap, flick to scroll, drag, drop, pinch and zoom. This way users can control both desktop folders and Office applications.

OnLive has already made plans of expanding OnLive desktop to Android smartphones and tablets, PC, Mac and TV via the OnLive Micro Console.

and the cost will be???

Free with 2gb of cloud storage and access to M$ Office apps. If you want more storage and access to a browser and other apps then that is pay for via the Pro version of the app. Source Daily Mail newspaper article of yesterday.

You need to sign up for an account on their website and then they will email when it is available to you. Initially US only, Europe later as usual.
