No sound in youtube clips played from Facebook app on iPad

When I open YouTube clips from Facebook they play with no sound. If I open the same clip from the YouTube app it plays with sound. Likewise if opened from a browser.

Double tapping the home key and closing every app and the closing the iPad down and restarting it after a few minutes sometimes makes it work.

Grateful any assistance

Hi Paul. When you say closing down or starting, do you mean Resetting your iPad which Apple recommends should be done periodically?
If not already done, try this:
Simultaneously hold down the On/Off and Home buttons until the screen blacks out. Keep holding until the white Apple logo appears and then let go both buttons. Wait and your iPad will be reset with RAM and cache tidied up.

Welcome to the forum Finny25. I regret I can't assist as I do not use or have enough knowledge about Facebook. Except to wonder whether you are playing that video via Adobe Flash on FB which is not supported by iOS. There are knowledgeable FB users here who I am confident will see your post here and respond.

The title, in light gray, says "USE SIDE SWITCH TO:" Below that there are two choices you can checkmark: Lock Rotation, and Mute.

The side switch does whichever one you select. There will be an icon in the Control Center that does the not-selected option.
