Studies like this will be increasingly done as the use of tech intensifies, especially with younger and younger children, and they're worth thoughtful consideration as more info is compiled. We will see smart uses of tech, as well as dumb uses, as with anything used by humans, lol.

It's clear there will be useful tech tools for young kids (LeapFrog, anyone?), as well as misuse (tech as a babysitter obviously won't ever be a worthy substitute for good parenting).

We know from plenty of studies that there's a high correlation between learning and human interaction, so it's no surprise that a tablet cannot sub for that.

The same thing was said when the Tv was first introduced into households.

True, but at least the kids had to be in the family room to watch the TV. With portable devices, they just disappear into their rooms or the basement for hours on end. Zero interaction. And, harder to monitor what they are doing. Either way, it's not the tablet makers fault. That's for sure!
