of course its true. If the iPad doesnt have a 3G connection, how is it supposed to share its internet with other devices like a laptop?

Tethering an iPad means to share its internet with another device like a laptop.

Also Tethering has been in the iphone since OS 3.0 was released last year. ATT is the one that has not yet enabled it, all other contries are aple to tether with iphone OS 3.0.

Whats happing is that ATT is going to finaly allow tethering, but not for free. You will have to sign up for yet another monthly fee in order to share your iPhone or iPads unlimited internet with another device like a laptop.

AH...no. Tethering the ipad means that you use your iphone 3G on the ipad, not the reverse. Your confused.

The OP was refering to the fact that the "official" tethering feature will not allow you to tether to the ipad.
