My screen lock switch turns the sound on and off?

I would like it to really lock the screen from rotating but I can't see how to do it. Please help. My iPad 1 is jb. Tnx

From iOS 4.3 onwards the screen rotation lock was re-assignable. If the switch is setting the Mute function, then the screen rotation lock can be accessed by double-tapping the Home key to open the multi-task bar, flick the screen to the right and then you'll see the 'soft' button there for setting screen rotation lock. The function can be re-assigned to the hard switch by the volume control in the 'Settings' menu.

I am running 4.2.1 and when I do what you suggested there is no choice for the screen lock button on that panel.

i added a 0,,, so you can understand better. 4.3.0, 4.2.1 doesn't support this.

I am defiately running 4.2.1 and my screen rotation lock is working as a mute control. I also have activator and winter board extensions as well. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

You are still misunderstanding. You will NEVER get this option until you upgrade your iOS past 4.3. The option was not introduced until then. You are on 4.2 which is TOO OLD.
On 4.2.x the switch will only perform MUTE.

From memory, if you want to turn rotation lock on and off on 4.2.1 you must use the switcher interface. Double click home, swipe the switcher icons to the right, and press the rotation lock icon which is on the left hand side...

No he won't, because he's on 4.2.1 as stated and that OS version does not have that option...
