I don't know what trouble you are having. However the airtel site says,
"iPad - will work only on those with an airtel 3G or GPRS connection."
I think that means that the iPad needs to be one that is more than wifi only.

Hi you need to cut the sim of your ipad to use airtel on it and only if your ipad is 3 or 4g
