Mini/move photos onto data card?

I have an iPad mini & used it yesterday to photograph my hours-old grandson, thinking I could transfer photos to a data card & then to my desktop. (I have the card reader for mini.)

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a way to do so...

I live in the boonies and am on a data plan, so emailing them to myself is not an option. Using any other 'airborne' method is likewise a non-started due to my location & data plan.

So, is there a way to move a camera roll to a data card...or do I have to go to plan B...whenever I figure out if there is one...

Thanks in advance.

The card reader is meant to import pictures to your iPad. It doesn't work the other way round.

There are a few ways to get these images to your computer.

One would be to connect your iPad to it, but don't sync. You can find here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083 what to do.

You can also use this: http://www.ipadforums.net/threads/apotop-wi-reader-wireless-reader-router.109434/
to transfer the pictures to your card, and then to the computer.

There's computer software that can help you transfer pictures. A search for "transfer photos from iPad to pc/computer" will show a few results.

I hope they'll help.

Since you can't use cloud storage, I didn't mention this option. It would be way easier to use than those mentioned, though.

JA...this reminds me that back when I got the mini, I had to connect it to my desktop to synch it ....so I must have a Lightning to USB cable to do just this....

This is what you are referring to above?

JA....I owe you thanks...you reminded me of the simplest way to go...connect Mini to computer via USB/ Lightning & everything almost transferred by itself.

I feel quite dumb...thanks for getting my brain working again!
