Hi,

I just bought the Ipad 3 and have questions. I would like to put some of my favorite DVD and Blu-ray movies into the Ipad 3, is there a way to do that? I have the 32GB model.

Thanks for any advice!!

First step is to rip them. I've never used Handbrake, but that seems to be the product of choice for a lot of members. It's free.

I use DVDFab, which is not free but works very well. Once ripped, you can use iTunes to transfer the rip to your iPad. If the BluRay comes with a digital copy, just redeem that in iTunes and transfer the copy to your iPad by drag and drop.

Onto the PC. You don't need it on the iPad. The ripped movies will play independently of the program.

Haha. Thanks, Andrew. Steering wheel in one hand; iPad in the other. Joking, of course. ;)

Most of the DVD movies got the Copy Protected logo on the back of the DVD case. Can I still rip a Copy Protected DVD movie using Handbrake? Will there be legal issues and how will they find out? I am using for personal purposes only.

Strictly speaking there's probably a copyright issue. In practice, no one will or can find out and so long as you keep the original, you should be OK. The major issue comes with taking your digital copy and sharing it.

This is not to say that the forum condones illegal practice of any kind. We do not allow discussion of piracy or its methods, but DVD/CD ripping seems to be accepted so long as it's for personal use.
