Keep Losing Keyboard

I am a new iPad user...82 years old! Kept losing my on screen keyboard...tried resetting but now have no keyboard and cannot continue setup because I have no keyboard..Keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for different outcome...complete insanity...HELP!!!!!

have you tried resetting the iPad through iTunes, you shouldn't need a keyboard for that?

If you have accidently dismissed the keyboard (usualy by tapping the keyboard key at the bottom right), all you have to do to get it back is tap the text entry area (where you are supposed to type stuff) and it will pop back up.
