ITProPortal reports today that Orange Mobile in the UK is now offering a joint package where you can get an iPad 2 and iPhone 4 together on a single 24-month contract. The offer, which is called Connected, costs £65 per month for both devices, with additional upfront costs (no details available as to what they might be as yet), and includes a pooled allowance of 2GB monthly data transfer, access to BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots, 600 call minutes and unlimited texts. If you were on separate contracts for iPad 2 and iPhone with Orange, you could expect to pay £35 per month plus £120 upfront for the iPhone 4, and £25 per month plus £199 upfront for the iPad 2. Seeing as that works out at £5 more than getting the two together, it remains to be seen how much cheaper the upfront payment is for the joint package, as otherwise it would still make more sense to stick to separate contracts. As ITProPortal notes, the package deal is not yet up on the Orange website.
