ITunes doesn't see ipad

I am a new member who couldn't find a place to start a new post. I just got my ipad and after syncing with itunes I still cannot see it under my computer like I can see my iphone. Even when connecting it with usb cord. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

One quick thing, is iTunes on your computer fully up to date?
