I have performed an update on my ipad and when it restarted it is stuck on the screen in the attachment. Tried power cycling to no avail.
Please advise.

Your iPad is in recovery mode. To get out of recovery mode without losing any data, connect the USB cable between your computer which is running iTunes and your iPad. Press and hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears onscreen, then release both buttons. When your iPad restarts, it should be out of recovery mode.

If you haven't done this yet, try just plugging the iPad into a computer running itunes as is . (Make sure itunes is up and running first). I had an iPad 2 do the same thing updating to iOS 9 and as soon as I plugged it into the PC, the "Hello" screen came up and all was fine from there.

I've tried both suggestions. But neither has worked. I am stuck in a loop.
Start PC
Connect ipad
Select to update / restore
Process fails due to "unknown error"
Click on more information and follow the same process as above.

ITunes is the latest version 12.3.0.44 64 bit
Serial number of ipad is showing in itunes.

Is there a number next to that "unknown error"? It will tell a bit more about what's happening.

Just tried the process described above for the fourth time now and it like it's working now. I see the Apple logo and a progress bar on the ipad screen. Phew. It's my daughters ipad and she wasn't too happy with me when I told her about this.....

Hi there.

I went through this song and dance for 10 hours a few days ago, I was lucky as all of a sudden The iPad went into recovery and things loaded.

When I went for the 9.0.1 update I plugged my iPad 2 (OS 9) into my Win 10 PC after I started up iTunes and got recognised by iTunes and went for the update from there

To continue, I don't know what happened then.
Any way, all appeared to be updating smoothly but v-e-r-y s-l-o-w -l-y and then all of a sudden up popped the very same window as shown on this post, it was asking me to connect to the computer........BUT I was already connected??????.

I waited for about 2 hours and nothing seemed to change. I eventual began the acts of a desperate man and started plugging in and pulling out of cable, pushing buttons and combination of buttons, like I said, about 10 hours of Waiting and button pushing before the iPad came good.

So my question is, how long should this update have taken, and why did the cable connect screen come up when I was already connected.

Sorry one more question, did I do the right thing by unplugging the USB cable and reconnecting it again?

Sorry about the 2part reply.

Regards
