IPad password problem

My wife, let our grandson use her iPad for a bit, and he changed the password to one of his own. now he can’t remember the password that he used. I have even tried to reset the iPad to factory new and that didn’t work. What can we do to make her iPad usable again and apply a password of her own.?

If your grandson changed your wife’s Apple ID password, you could try the route “I forgot my password”.
