I recently had a laryngectomy. My wife purchased the ipad for me to help us communicate. We found an app that allows me to type and it talks. Many of the doctors and nurses have commented what a great tool this is. Can't say enough how much I love my iPad.

Hi, geowull7366:

Welcome to the forum. Good to "see" and meet you, hope you enjoy your visit(s).

And, what a great story of how you are using the iPad, thanks. I'm sorry you had to have the laryngectomy but am glad the iPad keeps you in communication. Good luck in your healing process.

That is so amazing (albeit sad to hear about your operation), I hadn't even thought about such a use. Years ago a friend of mine had a son who had cerebral palsy and he communicated by tapping out letters painted on a giant timber board that had to be held up in front of his wheelchair. How much better would his life have been with a touch screen device to use for communication.

I'm really glad to hear that the iPad has given you a voice.

Thanks for sharing your story. I hope the app developers hear about it and are inspired to improve app and also people's lives. Holding a good thought for you.
