ipad 2 closing down when using facetime

I can facetime people and connect when someone facetime me but almost immediately my ipad shuts down and shows the apple logo. Has anyone else had this problem or can suggest how to fix it. I did a full reset and set the ipad up again but the problem continues. I wondered if it might in some way be connected with the front camera.
