It does get thick enough to walk on, but I have never seen anyone skate on it.

BOY - I miss ice skating from my teen days (over 50 years ago - WOW!). But from the age of 12 to 18 y/o (went off to Ann Arbor as an undergrad @ the U of Michigan in 1964), I lived next to a golf course which was located in both Ohio and Michigan - map shows my house circled next to the 2nd green of the course then (not sure what hole that may be now - left Michigan in 1971 and have not returned).

BUT, on that map I've placed some straight lines where then a wide creek ran from the golf course (lower right) into the woods and continued for several miles - in the winter after school, I was down there for at least an hour's worth of ice skating almost daily. Dave :)

For our Canadian Moderators - now watching the current PGA Tour (on my DVR) being held in the California desert (Palm Desert - La Quinta) - I've been to a number of medical meetings there in the distant past - but today, a Canadian golfer, Adam Hadwin (unknown to me) shot a 59! This use to be the Bob Hope tournament and now is played on 3 courses for the first three rounds and then on one course after the 54-hole cut - will record tomorrow's final round and hard for a golfer to 'come back' w/ a great round after such a performance today - good luck! Dave :)

Takes me back too. I remember skating on .Claremont Lake as a teenager. It is a beautiful landscaped garden in Surrey which used to be freely accessed by all, but is now owned and charged for entry by the National Trust. Nearby there is Black Pond which is on Esher Common. We used to swim there.

We have a creek that runs by about a block from my house. Back in the 60's I used to skate there in the winter.

This is a screen shot--with my iPad, I took a picture of my plasma TV. It was displaying a live video, via YouTube, of a South African sunset. The camera was on the back of a Land Rover on a game drive. They do this twice a day at wildearth.tv, also streamed over YouTube.

Hey, if I had been on that car in real life, instead of slumped in my recliner, I could have snapped that beautiful image. The bird, BTW, is a Brown Snake Eagle.
