OK, I admit it, we feed the wildlife. This one comes to our screen door and looks in as if she is asking for popcorn. Yes I know it's a she, as she had babies in our yard last year, and in our neighbors this year. She likes popcorn much better than carrots (another myth busted).

She arrives each year around Easter, then disappears when the kits are grown. We call her "Esther" (the Esther Bunny). Corny, I know, but then we feed her corn.

Since they don't live that long, and we've been feeding them for years, I suspect she is perhaps the 4th generation "Esther".

Thank you.
It's a peewit.

I don't believe we have that species here. It's a beautiful looking bird.
Looks like we have peewits in Oz, although they go by various other names depending in which State you see one, and they don't really look the same as the Austrian ones. Here's a link... http://www.graemechapman.com.au/library/viewphotos.php?c=324
Here in South Australia we call them Murray Magpies.
We have a loner visiting our back yard on a daily basis without fail although it stays only about five minutes, lets out a shrill tweet to confirm its territory, and then moves on.

We don't have peewits here in the Americas, but we do have some birds that are related, plovers. Our plovers don't have that fancy headdress.

Nice shots.

(Off the subject. I go back and notice a lot of typos in my posts. Please forgive. I'm not used to typing on the screen and I forget to proofread. I'm not as illiterate as it looks <wink/grin>)
