Image/Photo Thread Of Any Images You Would Like To Share....

No filtering or tweaking either. The local paper's FaceBook page ran two or three pictures of this sunset, so, not surprisingly, I wasn't the only one to notice.

Earlier this month, I posted some pics of another wall of my den in Andrew's (The OB) thread HERE - take a look @ his wonderful trip/cruise. Not sure how many got to that thread, so I've decided to re-post the pics here.

Location is the corner of my den near my 'chair' - monotype print on the wall (purchased in Victoria, B.C.) and some 3D works, including my 'cute' totem pole - 3 ft. tall and carved (and painted) from half a log - purchased in Juneau, Alaska on our cruise there several decades ago. Finally, an Eagle Kachina of the adjacent wall - a metal sculpting made mainly from copper. Dave

Desmond Morris (1928-Present) is an English zoologist, ethologist and surrealist painter, as well as a popular author in human sociobiology; many may be familiar w/ his numerous books - my introduction years ago was The Naked Ape - recently there was a BBC radio special w/ an interview that centered more on his painting which apparently is now quite valuable - SO, just googled his art and the images are quizzical & surrealistic (just several included below) - derivative in my mind but fun - he reminds be of a 'combo' of Dali & Miro - Dave

Very nice paintings.....I've never heard of Desmond Morris but will do some googling.

One of my fav artists is Salvador Dali and I just love his paintings, in particular Apparition of Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach.

Hi Leelai - glad to find another Dali fan! I've seen numerous works by him (and like the one you showed) - probably one of my favorites from my couple of history of art courses in my early undergrad years was his Persistance of Memory (below left) - I've seen this original painting a half dozen times at MOMA in NYC (really not that large, greatest dimension about 13 inches) - love the melting watches!

Susan & I have accumulated a LOT of artwork over the years (nearly every wall in our house has objects), but in the mid-70s we bought a Dali etching @ an art auction (below right) - had to take in @ an angle to avoid the camera flash so the detail is not shown, edition of about 125 & pencil signed - looks like Dali but not sure if it is 'real' - Dali use to sign a bunch of blank artist papers and then submit a drawing for others to transfer to the print media - maybe that's what we own, but is attractive. Dave

I don't know if you are aware, but there is a Dali museum in St. Petersburg Florida. I haven't been there, but a lot of friends have.
