...cool that you were a ranger there - are you still in the NPS?

No, it was a summer job in college, back in the late Jurassic (1969). Best job I ever had, but there were no career opportunities at the time, so I had to move on.

I like the Koshare clowns, too. If you've never watched a Pueblo dance ceremony in person, you may not appreciate how hilarious the clowns are in parodying their own culture (as well as the tourists who come to watch!). The little kachina dolls were originally made to instruct children in the details of Pueblo religious life, as most kachinas represent spirits.

We first visited Jerome in 1972, when it was still basically a ghost town with very few shops or residents.

Took this picture of a moose standing in the yard, eating my lettuce. (Unedited) LOL, had to take the picture before shooing it away...

Didn't even ask for the dressing. :);)

Hi Iriana - great pic of a moose in your yard, I presume? I have a friend who never orders dressing on his salad when we go out to eat, but don't believe that he's a moose - :D

Wife & I love 'wild' game - have eaten bison (although most of those are raised on farms), elk, antelope, & venison - BUT, I've never had moose or bear - Dave :)

Hi again Lanny - I love the Kachina Clowns, especially the usual ones w/ black & white stripes (look like prison outfits) doing 'funny' things like eating watermelon (such as the pic below from the web - wife would never want that one!). On our main New Mexico trip, we went from Albuquerque to Santa Fe to Taos and back; probably stopped at about 4 pueblos - would loved to have seen a dance ceremony.

Our visit to Jerome was probably in the early '80s and at the time, it was pretty much a restored tourist stop w/ great views! As stated that Mudhead we own was our first good kachina, so we've been collecting these for 30 years, I guess! Dave :)

Among my many interests, music is yet another, especially classical (own nearly 4K CDs of that genre alone! But been collection since 1984) - also, as a woodworker, the combination of old (or reproductions) wooden instruments fascinates me (belong to the Good-Music-Guide forum and started a thread on the topic even!).

Today, listened to a new CD acquisition (cover art below) of Matthias Weckmann's (c. 1616-1674) harpsichord works; a third of the pieces were played on the Lute Harpsichord which often looks like a standard harpsichord but is strung w/ gut strings, thus sound more like a string instrument on steroids! Now I have about a half dozen CDs of music performed on a lute harpsichord (most of these are modern reproductions now rather than restorations) and love the sound.

So, I was just browsing the web while listening, looking at various instrument sites, and the one shown below is not only beautiful but is shaped like a BIG lute - just wonderful to my eyes! This would be a 'hand-made' instrument - dual manual - I have no idea what it would cost (my guess would be $30,000-40,000 USD having looked at prices over the years) - but, more information HERE, if interested. Dave :) P.S. be sure to click on the instrument!

Is that an in-service rail bed on the left?

No, just the curb and fog line (and bicycle lane) of the street. The angle of the sun and being wet is what's making them reflect that much light. The rough texture is because it just finished hailing on us. Just small ones, so no damage to dog or self.

It's a cool picture - more so now that I know it's making me imagine things. :)

There's some ice along the waterfront.

This is what's still the same:

It seems as if the water is burning.
