Just showed up on my FB page - gorgeous - credit to photographer quoted below. Dave :)

A beautiful photo of first light at Glacier National Park in Montana. Of the image, photographer Kevin LeFevre says: "While shooting the sunrise at Bowman Lake, we were graced with this meandering doe. I scrambled to change my camera settings to accommodate the movement and pulled off this solitary photo. A once in a lifetime." While parts of Glacier are closed because of #ReynoldsCreekFire, most of the park remains open, including Bowman Lake area. Photo courtesy of Kevin LeFevre.

Boy, I've not seen inside an old jeweled mechanical wrist watch in years - I change the batteries in our wrist watches, but all are quartz movements; we do have some 'solar' ones but assume the same mechanism.

The only 'mechanical' clock that we have in the house is shown below - a chiming Howard-Miller 'School House' wall clock - 8 day wind movements for time & sound - bought in 1975 to help teach our young son then to learn to tell time. Unless I forget, I wind the clock every Sunday - now kind of a family heirloom. Dave :)

An early Railroad pocket watch from about 1912. The movement is a 19 jewel Bunn made by the Illinois Watch Company. The dial is what is known as a Montgomery dial as it has every minute numbered around the edge of the dial as well as the 6 inside the seconds dial.

Taken while sitting in the Skywheel, thus the blue hues.

Johanna - needed to see that Helsinki SkyWheel (pic below for others) - 460 ft high - impressive @ over twice the height of the 'little one' that we were on in Myrtle Beach - also piqued my interest as to others that may even be taller? Well, I was unaware of one being built on Staten Island w/ a grand view of New York Harbor - projected spring 2018 opening - height will be 630 ft! Susan & I may have to revisit the Big Apple and take the ferry out to Staten Island - cheap but great boat ride & then a BIG WHEEL! Dave :)

Beautiful monument - I have nearly 20 CDs in my collection of Sibelius music (mostly Symphonies & Tone Poems; some Chamber & Solo Piano) - although the monument looks like the pipes of an organ, he wrote just a handful of pieces for that instrument (list of compositions HERE) - some interesting discussion of the monument and its conception in this Wiki Article, for those interested. Dave :)
