Thank you! :)

Believe it or not, thanks to iPF, I've discovered taking pictures as a hobby. :) I don't know if I have a talent. My sunset pictures are at the moment the only ones that really turn out about the way I wanted them to be.

You've improved a lot since you started. And if it's mostly your landscapes, then that's because you've concentrated on landscape. I'm kind of jealous, since I almost never get good landscapes. But then again I tend to concentrate more on other subjects.

One of the things I've found that helps broaden skills is to pick a single subject, lens, or theme, and go an a photo expedition. You probably won't get a lot of photos you like, but forcing yourself to think about what you are doing different pays off in the long run.

Heh. listen to me, going on as if I know something. Truth is I picked up what skill I have very slowly, casually, over years. If I were as focused as you I'd be a professional by now. :)

Double heh, 'focused', I made a pun. :D

My son told me something similar, weeks ago. He said I should focus :D on the 50 mm lens for a while, because it would force me to go nearer to my "objects". I took hundreds of pictures, and deleted almost all of them. Only a few "survived". ;-) Right now I'm at the point where I see something and have a mental picture what it should look like on my photo. When I look at my photos afterwards, they are not always the way I "saw" them in my mind. :)

For me, a good sign that I'm getting better is that exactly the pictures, which I believe to be good ones, get more attention in Flickr than the other ones.

Maybe in my summer holidays, I'll have more time to experiment with my camera. :)

I agree with Twerppoet here.....you have improved and a lot! I always admire your photos and lately they've been very good....

Not that your earlier photos were bad, they've always been good, it's just you're capturing more of a feel (not sure if that's the right word here) to a photo also now!

I think you've gotten your eye in! and that's a great thing!! ;)

A European peacock was nice enough to stay on it's place and let me take pictures. As I was using my 50 mm lens today, I needed to get quite close - about a meter.
Here's one of the results:

This is the original photo, but cropped.

Johanna - the shadow matches the butterfly's wings - the sun must have been low in the sky - just wondering? Dave :)

You're right. It wasn't sunset, but in the evening - between 7:00 and 7:30 pm, I think.

At the moment, I'm frequenting about 3 forums (this one, MacForums, & Good-Music-Guide, i.e. GMG) - ignoring my woodworking lately but will return.

But was on the GMG forum today and the cute picture below was posted (so not one that I took - :D) - Dave :)
