I-Pad3 vs. I-Pad2

Is there a way to tell, from serial numbers, or other ID whether you're looking at an I-Pad 2 or I-Pad3?
The units are in different laces and not available for side to side comparisons.

Models numbers on back of the iPad and the box. Google for them. They are posted on the net and in this forum, someplace. Can't remember where, else I would post them.
