There is the find my iPhone app, but it has to be downloaded to your device before it's stolen. If you haven't already done so, report the theft to the police as well as Apple.

Hi Julieann.... - welcome to the forum! Did you activate 'Find My iPad' in Settings -> iCloud? If so, you can visit iCloud.com and sign-in under your username & password (if you have setup an account there) - one of the menu options is 'Find My iPhone' - when opened, your 'devices' can be selected in the upper left corner - pick the one that was stolen or lost - a map will show the location and several of the choices are: 2) Play a sound (great for my wife who misplaces her iPad Mini in the house occasionally); and 2) Erase the iPad - BUT, if not 'turned on' in Settings, you're out of luck - Dave
