Hi guys,

Im a total newbie when it comes to iPad and tablets of any make/model (never owned 1)
Normally im pretty clued up on technology, But these past couple of years their has been so much come onto the market that im struggling to keep up now
What i want to know is should i get an iPad mini and iPad 2 or an iPad with retina display? (Im totally stumped)
I am looking to stream movies and surf the internet and maybe a game or two, But mainly movies.
I bought a kindle fire hd 8.9 on Sunday,I copied movies from my laptop to the kindle and downloaded VLC to play the movies , But the lag was really bad.I then went to the site i stream from and it would not play anything,so i took it back to the shop.
I have read quite a bit on iPad mini and a little about the retina display one, But im still unsure which would be best suited for me.Can anyone help

Regards

Jake

i personally had handled an ipad 3 (with retina display) and ipad mini.
They are both great, just depends what you need it for.

I did an unboxing video of my ipad mini, i think it really shows the feel of an ipad mini.

Have a look,

if you have any questions, ask.

Hi Jake,

I just sold my iPad 3 and got a mini.
If your main thing is movies, than you probably want a bigger display right? I'd go for a full size one.
But if you also want true portability maybe go mini. For me the mini won me over my previous iPads (1&3) because of its size and I literally take it everywhere as its soo small and light.

Either way, you'll be glad you went for an ipad

FWIW I had an original Kindle Fire and had no problem streaming their Prime Videos so I wonder if your issue was with the internet connection. Boy if movies are your thing then certainly it would seem the bigger iPad would be the way to go. Probably the Retina as well.

Jake, from your stated needs, an iPad3 would suit you well. It has the Retina display just like the iPad4 but the refurbs are available with full warranty directly from Apple at a significant discount. Now the choice boils down to which of the 24 available models of iPad3 is best for you. 16, 32, or 64 GB, white or black, wifi only or wifi plus 3G, Verizon or AT&T?

Congratulations on your choice! I have one myself, which I use when size is an issue.

You can't beat the value factor with the mini. It gives you access to so much in the way of the app store.
With that said if you got someone else paying for it and you watch movies sitting down with a stand for the ipad then go for broke with the ipad 4.
I like also that with ipads (any of them), you can always find the exact accessory for your viewing pleasure. There are so many stands too, I use InfiniApps. It just depends on what you want most of.

And did I mention games like real racing 3 can take up almost 2GB of space? It is considered one of the most graphically intensive games out now. But any ipad can handle it like a breeze or is that with ease. Consider more storage than what you initially think you'd need.

The kind of iPad you choose depends on what you want. Do you want a bigger screen? You should get the newest iPad with retina display. If you want something lighter and less expensive, however, I'd go with the mini.
