how to quiet the keyboard?

In a drawing app (affinity designer) I want to manipulate a block of text as an object. It is in a frame and has control handles but when I try to move it (as an object) the ipad’s keyboard leaps out to “help” me.

Ironically, the keyboard hides the thing it’s trying to help me with (so at least it’s a little funny!)

any way to give the keyboard a chill pill?

This could be a glitch in the App itself. I would drop a line to the Developer.
