how to open email attachments on ipad 3

an anyone help me open attachments on ipad3 please

What are you trying to open? And do you have the right software to be able to open that type of attachment?

oh, now you've got me!

example: a friend sends me a photo (jpeg) of say a cake. - this comes through to my laptop (not Mac) and opens without a problem.
I will also get a copy of that email on my ipad (3) - next to the sender's name there is a paperclip showing the attachment.

but i have no way of knowing how to get that photo from the email sent to my ipad. is this possible or do i need to download something else please?

Are you pressing the line/e-mail on the left that has the paper clip symbol on it? If you press it, the e-mail should display on the right for you to view the picture (or for you to press a dotted box to fully download the picture). Have a look at this picture for what I mean:

Mickey 330 (Marilyn) thank you so much - I have now discovered that the photo attachments arrive at the bottom of the email ( even if there are several continuing one after the other! ). I just wasn't scrolling down far enough.

Really appreciate your help.

one quick question if i may - when i first posted this thread i had no problem finding how to do it. it was my first visit to the forum.

i would now like to post a different thread but cannot find the symbol/ inf on WHERE to go to start it. been through all the menu but just come back to existing threads.

am i missing something very simple please?
