How to make a Pogo stylus clone

Is the foam just standard conductive, anti-static foam? I'd prefer just to get the foam instead of spending $$$ on a component that I'm just going to throw away. That's both expensive and wasteful, especially for the project I've got in mind.

You can also use a metal drafting pencil. I did, and it works so well!
