How do i remove sound effects sign from screen

Try a restart (switching the iPad off and back on, first). If it does not disappear, try a reset (press and hold both, the home button and the on/off button until the iPad switches off and the apple appears again).

Tried that thanks no good any more ideas I'm on my way to Fiji and they won't fix it there lol, probably never hear elf iPad ha ha

Tapping the volume rocker switch a few times up and down might help. Could be something stuck in there. Just don't use a mallet.

In addition to KevinJS advice - try plugging in a headset with volume control and operate it...

My sound effect symbol was coming on because I was standing my ipad up as I was using it. The volume button was touching the counter top.
