How do I get rid of app upgrade alerts?

I manage three iPads on one App Store account. Lately, one of them has been notifying me to upgrade an app that has never been downloaded to it (though it is on one of the others). How do I get rid of this annoying alert? I don't want to have to download it on this iPad.

Thanks for the suggestion. It will be useful to remember in the future, but in this case the next time I turned the iPad on thst alert had been replaced with one that was appropriate! Go figure!
