House speakers

I need to know the best (and cheapest) way to connect my iPad/iPhone to exterior house speakers that I was given.

I have a house entertainment center w/ a tuner, but I done want to run wiring from the inside to the outside

I have a portable speaker system that works with both devices but it doesn't have speaker outputs

This set up would be for my yard

I'm tempted to suggest AirPlay mirroring using AppleTV but I'd like to know more about the equipment you have.

If you want to throw about $270 at this, You can replace your router with an Airport Extreme, then use an Airport Express to connect the speakers. You would still use Airplay on the iPad to direct the sound output to the speakers.
