I now have an old First edition IPAD . Still going strong, but would like the mini to be able to put in my handbag.

Plus I would have camera and etc etc.

My question is: Should I buy the Ipad mini or the Ipad mini retina.

Any pros or cons that I should be aware of. Thanks for any help.

Hi Zoom - look HERE for a comparison between the iPad Mini & Mini w/ Retina Display - the main differences are few and shown in the attached pic, i.e. A7 CPU & 4x resolution w/ the Retina model and $100 more for the 16 GB model of the new one.

So, if you want to save some money and are interested in only 16 GB, then the iPad Mini would be your choice; however, if price is not an issue and you want a more powerful CPU and a sharper display (especially for reading smaller text), then the Retina model is a better option - not sure that there is much more to say. Good luck in your purchase. Dave :)

The mini retina is well worth the extra money spent for it. The only reason not to get it is if you must have it now and cannot afford the extra for the retina model. The extra screen resolution, CPU and graphical performance, extra RAM, plus the extra battery life and much faster charge time make it the clear choice.
