Hey my name is Tristan and my new iPad mini is my first Apple product ever. I have always loved Android and own a GS3, but Android tablets are severely lacking in apps and aside from the Nexus line, no manufacturer seems willing to create a high end tablet. So after trying tablet after tablet (Toshiba Thrive -> Nexus 7 -> Asus Smart Pad) I decided to buy an iPad. I have heard al lot of good things about iPads and have used them before. To be honest, I have never been a fan of ios devices in general ad prefer Android phones to iPhone any day. But there is just something about the iPad that seems so right. The ecosystem, seamless design and software and a huge selection of tablet specific apps is really what makes the iPad so great. Overall not regretting my purchase at all as I have in the past with Android tablets. Looks like this ones a keeper.

Welcome to the forums, tristandcarroll! You're going to love the iPad. I bought the Apple wireless keyboard and paired it with my iPad 4 and now I don't even need a desktop machine anymore.. that should tell you how powerful/useful the iPad is :)

Thanks everyone. There is no question that the iPad is a near perfect tablet. Not giving up my Android phone any time soon though ;)

Who am I to welcome you because I just joined today. LOL... I switched to an iPhone and an IPad in April of this year because I was rthe only person in my family who did not own an IOS device...

Anyway after almost 3 months I HONESTLY think I may have made a mistake with the iPad and KNOW I made a mistake with the Phone (mainly being stuck with the apple supplied on screen terrible keyboard) ...

Not a thing wrong with the build quality of either.. nor in how well the OS preforms .... Since I have exactly no games on either (never did with the androids either) I'm after productivity apps BUT itunes is a royal OIA to use ...and I personally find the number of USEFUL to me Apps available to be very limited for the Apple.. and the ones that are all cost money...

So Kristen you are not alone...

I see what you are saying here. That's why I use both Android and iOS. I'm not trapped.
