Help with Ipad. Screen not working. Cant copy photos with a passcode active

Please help i have the 16gb ipad 2. The screen is just lighting up black and not showing anything, I DESPERATLY need the photos of my son off before i reset it and need to know how i can do this. When i plug it into my computer it says i cant do anything with a passcode active, but i cant use the screen to unlock it! What can i do?? Is there some kind of programme that i can download to my windows computer to bypass the lockcode section?

Hi, welcome to iPF!

Try to reset your iPad this way: press and hold both Home and Power button at the same time, until the Apple logo appears.
You won't lose any picture when doing this.

Hi there thanks for responding. I have tried reseting it. and still nothing on the screen just black. i called tech support they want me to restore it but i need the data before i do.

Did you also try to sync your iPad with your computer, to back it up?

I cant do anything when i connect it to the computer because the passcode is active. and i cant unlock the passcode because the screen is not showing anything.

Install an iPad data recovery software on your computer, connect your iPad to it and backup your data, then restore your device.
There are a few available, like Wondershare or iBackupBot.

I added two names in my previous post. I've read that Wondershare should let you backup your iPad even when locked. I don't know if iBackupBot can do this. Another one would be iPad Data Recovery Software, which should be able to do the same as Wondershare.

Ive tried wondershare and its not working. it doesnt automatically start searching for files when ive followed the instructions. The iback up bot also isnt working it says i need to restore the device/

Try charging your iPad and then resetting it as explained before.

If this won't help, there's no other possibility than restoring it, afaik.

As JA has said there isn't another way to remove this lock other than to restore your iPad. Are you sure that you do have battery charge? When doing the reset like this it will take 20 to 30 seconds of continually holding these buttons in to try to get it working again. Have you tried it for this length of time?
