Just getting my feet--or maybe better:fingers--wet here. I am interested in developing iPad applications for psychological testing and surveys. I have litte experience in object-oriented programming and none in C++ etc. I have done considerable programming with special RAD engines, but that was many years ago. In brief, I consider myself to be a newbie here. But I am careful in my work, and try to be disciplined. I am interested in iPad, as it seems to be extraordinarily aesthetic in its approach and design, and I like the way the system is somewhat "closed"--in that less succeptibility to virii etc., seems to be warranted. (Although, I'm probably already putting my foot in my mouth by saying that; but remember: I'm new here!
My main interest for the moment is in finding out where information is in the forum, and I would like to know the best way of using the SDK for the iPad. I currently have a completely-oriented-on-Windows environment in my office (LAN) with XP 2003 providing the main OS. I didn't like any of the newer OS offerings of MS (e.g., Vista, Windows 7), as I find XP does everything well for the moment. Maybe I can develop programs for the iPad on the XP frame(?), but, again, I'm new to all of this. I hope I don't have to go into buying a heck of a lot of new HW just to do development work for the iPad, but I'm willing to do so if needed.
Best to you all, and I'm looking forward to learning new things!
