Greetings

I've been playing with my 3G for a couple of weeks now. Nice machine, but it does have limitations. I'm sure ad hoc networking will come, as well as Bluetooth cell phone support. After all we are on the bleeding edge here.

My desire is to mount the thing between the handlebars on my motorcycle. I think the big screen will make a fantastic Garmin killer when the proper apps are written.

Well since I joined up a whopping 2 days ago its my day to welcome everyone 2 the forum. lol. So... welcome Brodie! But! Don't mount it between your handlebars it would be 2 distracting! (i know u were just kidding :D)

Actually no I'm not just kidding,
I'm dead serious!

I already have it interfaced with my Starcom on bike communications set up. The power is supplied through the 30 pin connector to my power port within my tank bag. The sound is channeled, for the moment, through the auxiliary port on my Jensen Heavy Duty AM/FM radio, through the Starcom to my motorcycle helmet. The iPad sits in the map pocket on the top of the tank bag. I have Navigon as my turn by turn gps unit as my music collection is playing in the background. I am looking at how I can receive and make phone calls while in motion. The Starcom already has GMRS 2 way radio capability. My passenger can have the same set up in her helmet.

This next Friday I will be at Tap Plastic looking into having a custom watertight case made up that will mount the iPad in a more favorable position facing me just below the speedometer and tachometer cluster.

My goal is to have the whole set up completely voice command controlled. I don't want to have to touch the screen at all! From what I see so far the hardware is here, it's just getting the right mix of software. I may have to delve into the iPhone SDK and write my own stuff.

Like I said, we are on the bleeding edge here.
