You'll make money much faster if you sell everything at your road side shop instead of filling boat orders. I made that same mistake early on too. Filled orders, leveled up too quickly, and couldn't afford any machines.

Start selling cakes and dairy products, people always buy those. If you can afford it, syrups too. And if you don't make a lot of clothes, indigo.
