No, the method i mention above wont even spend any single diamond. Once u use 3 diamonds to open the mystery box but come out other things, just dont tab it but press the home button go to the screen, then press again home button 2 times to close the background game. Then u can enter the game like usual and Your 3 diamonds still there, like dont use it. But if use 3 diamonds to open the box and get 5 diamonds, just tab on it then u earn a total 2 diamonds.

not sure you all know this method to get diamonds or not,just a bit troublesome but no need hack or jailbreak. whenever u saw a mystery box then just use 3 diamonds to open it, if is 5 diamonds then just tab it then can get it. if not 5 diamonds but is other things then dont tab it but straight away come out from the game by pressing the home button, after that tab 2 times to close the game at the background then enter the game again, your 3 diamonds still there. just need to be hardworking by doing this.

UPDATE: A slightly faster way to do it, though, I discovered, is to just hit the power off button on your iPad, then the home button to turn it back on - this will shut down Hay Day sufficiently and your diamonds will be where you left them! Just a tad quicker....

I use this method too when I am desperate for diamonds, but it's painfully not productive. I loved when you could do the old "box always at the same place" trick in 2012.

BTW did somebody find out how the process of getting diamonds in the mine works? Is it just random?
