I have a bit of a boat complex, which is to say I really really don't like to send them away. But if I can't fill at least half of it, or find product to fill it in the paper, i won't keep it, like you said.

I usually feel bad about asking for boat help here, too, when I do ask. Im leveled up enough for jam now but don't have the machine get, and I haven't seen it on any of my boats, but I know I won't be keeping those when they do come along.

I leveled up to buy the jam maker, i asked around a bit what i should do best and i bought the jewelry maker... But now i get boats that ask for jam, ...

I don't fill cream or sugar crates, rarely do I keep jam boats. If they ask for 1 jam per crate, then I might keep them, but 2 jams per crate is pushing it. Especially since they take so darn long, and I don't want people to waste their jams either. I wish there was some kind of guarantee where jams or harder to make items will give you gold vouchers. Then I might keep the boats around, but I hate it when I have blackberry jam boats and only end up getting green vouchers.

Jam maker is better. I still don't have the jeweler yet and I'm way past that level lol. Need to get all the smelters first before I buy jeweler. I'm almost there.

I know, it's like what if you pass on a gold voucher! Thats definitely part of why I try to do them all (I even keep trying the sugar boats). I've managed to finally expand barn and silo to space enough to hoard, so that's what I keep doing. I've almost hit next machine level financially, and should be able to get the ice cream machine today. But it's hard to get there when I keep finding deals in the paper on materials that I want to buy just to pass them on here!

It's true that 2 jams per crate is pushing it.... With 4 types of jam it's hard to keep enough of every jam around. I even had a boat that asked for 2 kinds of jam. That one sailed away empty

Oh no! You were given poor advice. The jewelry machine does allow for you to make good money....that is IF you can keep enough bars to keep it running continuously....which mine only runs 50-75% of the time because there are never enough bars from my experience. The jam machine is invaluable in this game! Bummer you were swayed that way!
