So, I've got Tom and don't really need him for anything. Am looking to have him get stuff I can resell on my stand.

Anyone have suggestions as to hottest selling items with the highest margins?

When I had him I sent hi to buy the highest priced item, which for me at that time was apple pies. Pies costs more than gold bars, lol! So figure out what is the highest price item that you can currently buy and buy them, then resell.

no I only have 168 diamonds

Do you guys think it would be smart to upgrade my barn space to 500, then just stop there and sell all my building materials? I'm so tired of my barn always being full, and the building materials are taking up a lot of space.

I think that's a good idea. Except as you progress in the game you're going to need even more barn space!

I have a barn of 1150 and trust me... you can never have enough barn capacity...
silo is another story though, you might be set with 800 or so.
keep buying bolts, planks and tapes, if expanding your land ain't your priority trade expansion materials for barn. I don't know your level and what you are able to produce but the developers will introduce more products soon...so more space required anyway

I'm currently only on lvl 39.

What level are you? Do you still have more things to unlock? You have to keep that in mind that as you unlock new stuff it will take up even more space.

I don't think 500 is big enough, but it depends on how you play. I like to keep a lot of products on hand. For awhile I did stop upgrading my silo and would sell all of my silo materials to save barn space, but I kept my barn materials.

Make sure you don't have things wasting space too. A lot of times I see my barn is full and then notice I have a ridiculous amount of milk or animal feed or anything else that I can sell and easily make more of when I need it.
