Gmail wont work

dobbey

iPF Noob
When I try to set it up, it says I got something wrong (I haven't). Then it says it won't be able to do anything. I can't even send emails via safari. I have checked the POP settings, as I use my account on my phone and computer. I also tried turning the email off on both of those, but still the same
Please help
Josh

POP settings? GMail's setup on the iPad uses IMAP.

Go to your GMail setting online and under the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab make sure IMAP is enabled.

I have no idea why you can not access GMail in Safari and send email that way. Can you do it using a web browser on the computer?

Yes, I can. I have also checked the pop settings and it's on imap

Your first screen shots shows gmail responding that the account name or password for IMAP are incorrect. You'll know that the iPad, by default, sets the first letter of the first word on what it perceives to be a new sentence to upper case. If your IMAP password is all lower-case, check that the iPad is not accidentally setting that to upper case.

Ok, last try.

Go to Google and change your password. Try to add the account again with the new password. Remember you'll have to change it on the computer and iPhone as well.

Update: checked the case of the password. That was fine. Changed my password, still no luck
I'm stumped :'(

I'VE SOLVED IT!!!!!!!!!! It was my fault in the end. I have google 2 step verification, and for things that won't work with it like the iPad mail app, it gives you a completly random password to use once. I forgot about that. Silly me!

Its a brilliant security feature, no one can log in to your account from a new computer
