Hi all,

I recently bought a 16Gb Wifi only iPad 2 from the refurbished section of the Apple store. As far as I'm concerned it's "as new" - works perfectly, everything's been tested etc. I even have the standard years warranty.

I want to insure it against accidental damage; we can all be clumsy, but I can't find an insurer that will insure tHe refurbished gadget even though it's an apple certified refurb. I use the gadget at home 95% of the time but every now and again I will want to take it out with me so I'd rather not have it on my Home Contents if I can help it.

Does anyone know any companies that could help? I've tried protect your bubble, gadget cover and JS Insurance to no avail.

Thanks all

Sam

H PFC...Not sure if you looked into the Sponsors section of this forum, however, I believe there is at least one insurance sponsors that may help you. Maybe this may help you. I do not know if they have limits on what they insure refurb versus new. You may need to check.
Maybe this may help. Also, I am sure that other members may give you some more information.

I'm not sure how your home insurance works, but mine covers me for accidental damage to my property when outside the home as well (up to a reasonable limit per year). This covers electronics/phones/cameras as well as things like bicycles.

I think the limit on mine is 2000CHF/year - well over the replacement cost of a new iPad (yes, I am in Switzerland).

My Insurance does cover it, I think I may have to use that. I looked at ensquared and they only cover in the us and Canada - I am from the uk.

Many thanks for your help!

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps others from your region can provide some advice.

I purchased iPad insurance for my son's 16 GB Wi-Fi only for $38 per year. I also purchased insurance for my wife 64 GB iPad to four $50 per year. Both policies I purchased from safe wareinsurance.com. Company is quite reliable and I have purchased insurance from them for several small computers and laptops years.

Not long ago my Daughter dropped her iPhone for into a cup of Pepsi. As I'm sure you're aware iPhones and most of electrical devices not exactly do you love liquids. Her iPhone was dished Roy and safe where was quick to replace it.

Doesn't all insurance for your home cover this type of thing? My understanding of most policies is that they will reimburse you for the value of an item or depending on your policy, replacement value. Things like laptops, phones, sports equipment and other miscellaneous items that don't stay in your house all the time are included under normal policies.
