I'm new to the Apple world. This is a whole different animal to me. My computers have always been PCs and I use a Blackberry cell phone. My husband gave me an iPad2 for Christmas. They are fun and different! I get confused with the browser vs apps. That throws me. I want to go to a browser.....habit I guess.
I also get frustrated when I go to my usual websites and they are not Apple friendly. I want them to be!! I went to one and it told me to download the latest version of Internet explorer or Mozilla. Can't do that and can't get on that site I guess.
I also get confused that I can download and use Adobe reader but not Adobe Flash....aren't they the same company?

I look forward to help and comments!

Hi, Sherbear, and welcome to the forum. Good to "see" you and hope you enjoy your visit(s).

Have a look here for a pretty definitive explanation on Flash, Apple and iOS: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-faq/54703-flash-ipad.html. That ought to help you...

Also, many top web sites (e.g. shopping, news, banking) have their own apps in the App Store. For example, I bank with Chase. Well, they have their own app, so I don't have to try to go to the browser and do all the log in stuff to get to my account. I can just tap on the app, login and I can do the same things as if I was at the web site (and, truthfully, a lot better than trying to access it via a browser on the iPad).

So, have a search through the App Store for your favorite web sites. Odds are, there are a lot more there than you think.

If you can't find your web site/business as an app, let us know which one it is, and we can see if we (as a group) do something different - if we're accessing it. Because, bottom line, you can't get any other software onto the iPad except via the App Store, as you've already found out with the attempts to download IE or Firefox...

Good luck and, relax! You'll get the hang of it. :D

Thank you Marilyn. I'm working on getting the most with my iPad and work. My Metrolist website is set up for use with IE or Mozilla. They do have a PDA site but it is so limited on what I can do. I can't click on links or use the flash because of course, no flash. Very frustrating.
If I tried that splash app would it just recognize my old Adobe flash links I'm clicking on and bring up The new pages?
