Thanks to Pocket Gamer for pointing out that the Glu Games iPad app, Glyder 2 for iPad is now free. Everyone likes free games of course, especially when they're good ones, and Glyder 2 certainly falls into that category. Gameplay consists of guiding the game's heroine, Eryn, across the open skies and through tight caverns, across six new worlds.
The iPhone version of Glyder 2 was Pocket Gamer's game of 2009, and the now free iPad version now has much more detailed graphics, as well as the addition of a second control method, enabling you to control Eryn with your finger alongside the more traditional tilt controls.
A 3D viewer has also been added, which the player can use to view interactive 3D world displaying the locations of various points of interest, and navigation between worlds has now been enhanced, enabling you to tap the map button to display an on-screen map indicating Eryn's position and providing a point of reference to show your current location.
Anyway you slice it, not bad at all for a free game, although it does take a fair bit of practice to master your wings and learn to glide with grace.
