MacRumors reports that Fast Company has proclaimed Apple the most innovative company in the world in its annual ranking of 50 innovative companies. Fast Company says that it has awarded Apple its top honour because of the way in which the company is “delivering the future today.”
Among Apple’s accomplishments that were noted by Fast Company were the iPhone X, the Apple Watch Series 3, ARKit, and an overall focus on hardware and software integration. Fast Company also praised the way in which Apple manufacturers its own chips that are tailor-made for its own products, leading to impressive performance.
In an interview with Fast Company following the announcement, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple always focuses on “products and people” rather than earnings results and stock prices. He said that the company is an “outlier,” because Wall Street has “little to no effect” on Apple.
Cook told Fast Company that Apple is currently working on products 4 or 5 years ahead of launch, and even further, in some cases.
“For us, on the product side, we have to come up with our silicon requirements three, four-plus years in advance. So we’ve got things that we’re working on now that are way out in the 2020s.”
