External storage - SanDisk Connect, iBridge, etc

When travelling I backup photos from my camera to an an iPad, but it doesn't have enough free space for my needs, so I want to get an external storage device. The cheapest is a wireless one like the SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick; other more expensive ones have a lightning connector such as the SanDisk iXpand or the Leef iBridge.
Transfer speed may be an issue from some things I have read and if I need to move images from the device to my desktop filenames must be retained. (I have used an Apotop Wi-Reader, but that gives the images a new filename when downloading from the iPad.)

Does anyone have experience of more than one of these to help with looking at the pros and cons.

I use a Maxwell AirStash. Has the advantage of storing it's contents on an SD card, which provides flexibility and essentially infinite storage with multiple cards.
